Slovenian Karst Walking, a great hike through the Slovenian Karst between Štanjel, Lipica and Trieste. Easy walking, great local people and fine local food.
The Karst, located in the western part of Slovenia, is an area of woodlands, meadows and unspoilt villages with an ever-present backdrop of mountains. Its extraordinary geological phenomena includes vast cave systems and rivers that vanish into cliffs. The area is mother also to some fine vineyards producing the unique Teran wine, a ferocious red to be drunk as accompaniment to the local prosciutto (“Prsut”). The choice of trails is remarkable: from easier short walks along the Karst and foothills, to longer challenging trails in the Karst ridge, where you can enjoy views of the Adriatic sea. This tour offers something for everyone.
